      • Grab PMID during Google Scholar search, possibly option to import instead

When a Google Scholar search is run, some data is updated automatically. However, Google Scholar returns mediocre results and often (in neuroscience anyway) provides a pubmed link with the structure:

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/<PMID>

Currently, the pubmed ID is not captured. For example, the search:

"Localization of dopamine D2 receptor mRNA and D1 and D2 receptor binding in the rat brain and pituitary"

        clearly includes the pubmed link:

        http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2143777

but this ID is not captured by the default search. This Pubmed data (importable once the ID is entered) is vastly superior to Google Scholar results. At minimum, it'd be great to capture…

        • let the reader view all the notes s/he has made

For people who add notes to their .pdfs, it would be really convenient if they could view all notes at once. This function would be similar to MSWord's View Comments functionality. That way, a reader can see their thoughts right away without having to click on each note icon.

          • Stop auto-creating "Documents" folder

Mendeley Desktop has no business creating folders for me, but it seems to create a "~/Documents" folder every time I run it (linux 64-bit). Can this behaviour be stopped, please?

            • Avoid duplicated BibTeX entries when a paper exists both in "My Library" and a shared collection

If I drag a paper from my library to a shared collection it gets copied to that collection so that I now have two copied (why don't you just link?). This also means that I have two BibTeX entries for that paper.

              • add notes with latex-style formulas

I often write down explanatory calculations while reading an article. If I could add them to notes inside my documents in Mendeley Desktop, that would be very helpful.
So I suggest adding support for latex-style formulas to notes.

                • Next/previous view function for PDF viewing

When I read a PDF document in Mendeley, I often need to go to the end of the document to look at the references. But there is no easy way to return back to the point where I stopped. It would be very convenient if Mendeley PDF viewer had "Next view" and "Previous view" buttons, like in Acrobat Reader.

                  • Make it work with MS Word 2008 for Mac

I just installed Mendeley desktop and it looks wonderfully promising but entirely useless to me while the plugin for MS Word 2008 Mac is not functional.

                    • To load a whole folder with subfolders in Mendeley

It would be very nice if you make it possible to load the whole folder with subfolders where all articles I need are collected in appropriate folders by myself before. Thus, after loading in Mendeley an entire structure of my own library (that was made before installing Mendeley and contained saved articles) is appearing on Mendeley Desktop. In other words, many researchers would like to synchronize an already-made-on-HDD folder together with subfolders with Mendeley, along with the possibility of automatically adding and synchronizing with new folders I make on HDD. Now in BETA version it is possible to synchronize only…

                      • add quick look in the Mac desktop

Quick Look is a great way to quickly scan through documents without actually opening them (in a new tab or a separate viewer). Hitting the space bar to see the file is now pretty much standard in OSX apps, so I'd guess it's not hard to implement. (Examples, Finder, PathFinder, Yep)

                          • search by document type

I'm missing the ability to search for a certain document by it's type. E.g. if I'm looking for a certain thesis, I want to be able to filter the search results by specifying something like type:theses and for a book something like type:book in the searchbox and get the correspondingly filtered results

                            • Delete PDFs in original folder after importing

PDFs are often downloaded to a temporary folder, for example the "download" folder. When importing papers from this folder, Mendeley should have the option to delete the copy in this folder automatically (after a copy in the folder organized by Mendeley was created).

                              • Fix bibtex library bugs: update and remove duplicates

When I remove articles from my library, these items are not being removed from the bibtex library that mendeley is supposed to keep synched. This leads to another problem: duplicates exist in the bibtex file created by mendeley. bibtex does not allow duplicate entries, and so when I try to compile citing one of the duplicated keys, it gives me an error!

Deleted files still appear in BibTeX, this will be fixed for 1.8.

Duplicate files is a bit more complicated, as it would involve making various fundamental changes to the system. However, we are quite keen to have it looked into and hopefully solved in a future version.

                                • let read PDFs in white over blue/black

Reading PDFs in black over white is unpleasant and it makes it difficult to read for many hours. Other PDF readers let you choose the ink and paper colors. This is also valid for visually-impaired people (focusing is easier when text is presented in white over black, or yellow over blue)

                                    • Bug with DOI imports from ACM

The DOI lookup seems to have some problems when looking up papers within the ACM database. Here are a few things that I noticed:

                                      1. Then I press "DOI lookup" the type of the paper changes to "Book", while it is a conference proceedings paper.

                                      2. The pages are not imported correctly. Instead of the full page range, I only get the first page.

                                      3. When there is a colon (:) in the title, the title is imported only until the colon.

I am not sure if this is an issue with Mendeley or with ACM. (Issue #1 seems to…

                                      • Show the Google Scholar data rather than simply overwriting with it

When you search Google Scholar for unreviewed documents it overwrites with whatever it finds. Sometimes this actually produces less (or wrong) information. It would be nice to review first before overwriting. A checkbox to select individual fields to import would be ideal.

                                        • mendeley desktop custom font size and automatic dpi scaling

Nowadays high resolution monitors have become common and people are using dpi scaling. I have always used 125 % dpi. Mendeley desktop program is not being scaled according to set dpi. It is displaying at defult windows dpi (96 dpi). This makes the font size very small on large monitors. Please incroporate dpi scaling or atleast provide an option to increase the font size for the program.
