  1. Create an "Enhance PDF" option like ReadCube has. I love Mendeley, but that feature is so cool!!!

    This would pull up a list of citations in the article currently being read on the side (so the reader wouldn't have to scroll down mid-read to find them) and give the reader the option to download these directly.

    • Fix the "A" caps for initials of authors

      When adding paper to Mendeley, authors with the letter A in their initials end up with a small letter a in author lists. Quite annoying, because one has to change it for every paper by hand. So for example:
      Jessica A. Flecher, becomes: Fletcher, J a.
      I think the initial "A" is in this case regarded by Mendeley as an article, which is strange in the author variable.

      • Export for e-book readers

        It's imperative that "someone" manage to export nicely transformed .pdf files to a .EPUB or similar E-book reader format. Who will be the first?!!

        I have a KOBO and some friends of mine have the Kindle, but for the .pdf articles, it's like torching money into flames!

        Please?!

        • To be able to organize pdf files on the hard drive into the same folders as created in Mendeley desktop.

          Right now you can organize files in folders on the hard drive only by author name, year, journal name. It would be super helpful to be able to find them in the same folders as in the Mendeley desktop. It was very surprising that not everyone I am working with wants to install Mendeley so if I need to send them more than one pdf file it takes a lot of searching through Mendeley folder.

          • Include journal abbreviations in API

            Dear Mendeley,

            It is great that journal abbreviations are now supported in Mendeley Desktop. However, it seems that there is no way to use journal abbreviations when using the Mendeley API. Would it be possible to include support for it in the API?

            • Citation key as a column in the big middle window

              Can you add the "citation key" nect to "authors", "title", "year", "published in", and "added" to the big middle window with listable information of each entry?

                  • Apple iWork v.5

                    I'm a Papers user due to their great plug in with pages from Apple since Microsoft Word is not a real and serious software for writing. But now, they dropped with the new Apple release of the so called new Pages 5 which is terrible by the way, but still use it and still better than MSWord. So I do not longer have the Plug In, looking for an option on mendely but apparently you do not have either don't you? Any time soon?

                    • Show references and figures in sidebar

                      Most recent papers have their images/references metadata available in the publisher's webpage.

                      ReadCube does an excellent job in importing all references and displaying on the sidebar (the Enhance PDF thing). Mendeley could take it to the next level and display figures as well, which makes reading much easier. Going from page to page finding figures and references is a pain the ass.

                        Allow file names to be shown on the desktop and PDI as I and others have used pdf file names to sort our reprints.

                          Sync bibliographic information, maybe cover pictures, ratings and reviews from/to Goodreads. They have a good social layer, and some people also use this for academic reading.

                          • Add a "Slide Presentation" or "Briefing Charts" as a document type

                            I recommend adding a "Slide Presentation" or "Briefing Charts" category to capture the unique document type of slides. These are commonly available as an addendum to a conference paper. And in many professional settings, 'briefing charts' are the document-type of choice for final output. Categorizing slides as such would make it easier to search specifically for slides, and also to exclude them if you want conference proceedings papers and not slides.

                            • make the citation style to have sub-categories.

                              It would be very useful to be able to cite several publications in only one reference by using sub-categories and be able to re-cite these in text if necessary.

                              For example:
                              1. a) ref 1; b) ref 2; c) ref 3;
                              2. ref 4
                              3. a) ref 5; b) ref 6 ....

                              • collect all highlighted text from every paper in a seperate pdf or doc

                                It is sometimes useful to see all the highlighted text in a seperate document. This helps when you are looking for certain tags or vocabulary of a particular literature

                                  To include the 'My Library' folder structure to 'Document details' so it is possible to quickly see which folder(s) the paper you are reading is/are annotated to/saved in.

                                  • Allow to update "created" document attribute using the API

                                    Currently, the "created" document field is set by the server with the date that the document was added to the system.

                                    This is undesirable when we are restoring a backup as all the original added dates will be lost.

                                    Even by using the update functions from the API it remains impossible to change the creation dates.
                                    I would strongly suggest to allow the update function of the API to overwrite the "created" default attribute's value set by the server.

                                      You have a very nice feature to update article details based on the article title. However, we can't use this feature for the articles which are already added. When the button for auto-update disappears, there is no way to use auto-update again. Please add the permanent button.

                                        I just want to say that this is ubiquitous referencing application I have been seeking my entire life. Keep improving functionality and services across platforms. If this application only had the functionality of Grammarly. There would be no need for another application. Only Mendeley. It would dominate the market and completely block other competitors from entering the marketspace. Thank you.

                                        • to make it possible to create a new folder in the browser plugin.

                                          I love using the browser-plugin for Chrome to save pdfs and articles to be read later. Right now though one can only choose to put the document into an already existing folder. It would be great to create folders directly through the plugin and store the files there.
